It got really warm all of the sudden and then Elliott peed all over her onesie so I took this as an opportunity to take some diaper time photos. She is such a silly little girl.

Little Luna turned one month old (I know, a little late) and so she got dressed in a little polka dot number and we visited the office. This seems to be her signature face although she makes a lot of silly faces.

I have sooooo many things I want to make not only for my shop (just in time for xmas) but also for the new little creature that lives with us. I have loads of new totes I want to get done by the end of October so my shoppe is good and stocked. Also I am almost ready for Elliott to start sleeping in her crib so I need to finish her quilt before it starts getting cold. I am getting better at putting her down and thanks to her new baby bjorn seat we can hang out so much easier without having to hold her... oh but I love holding her! Wish me luck!

Elliott has been having lots of fun this month figuring out how to suck her thumb (although she needs lots of work), kicking and stretching (not so convenient when changing a diaper) and cooing and smiling (most adorable thing ever, it melts our hearts). We are the luckiest parents ever (of course, we have to say that)!

wow! what an insane week it has been but here I am finally sharing some birth story action... don't worry I will spare you all the gruesome details but feel free to google "giving birth" if you need more information.

my last weekly check up was friday and the doctor was trying to set up an appointment for me to be induced since I was at the due date and we weren't seeing much progress. I didn't let her set up the induction because I am stubborn and hate doctors telling me what to do. I woke up that night around midnight with horrible cramps but was able to sleep through them until about 4a.m. which is when I woke Todd up telling him I am going to call the hospital and see what they say I should do. Half asleep, I think Todd was totally caught off guard but hopped out of bed real quick. The hospital said they didn't have enough beds so we would have to call a different hospital so I decided to wait it out a bit more. The contractions got worse and we called again around noon that Saturday. The hospital still didn't have any beds and told me more hospitals are full so I would have to go even further than I thought I might. I was still not happy with not being able to deliver at my hospital so we decided to wait even longer.

Around 6p.m. I felt like I needed to take a walk and get my body moving even though I was in excruciating pain. Such a busy body! Todd and I took a long walk around the block and I had contractions every few minutes so I knew I was going to have to go in to whatever hospital they told me there was room for me. I called and luckily there was a room available at my hospital and they said they would hold a room for me! Score!

I took my third shower of the day ate some more snacks and we gathered all our hospital bags.... yes, we had multiple bags. Heading to the hospital was such a relief especially since my contractions were starting to really hurt uber bad. I can't believe I thought I would be able to give birth without the epidural... HA! We checked in and as soon as the epidural went in and we were all calm we sent out a text to let close family know what was up.

I slept all night and thank goodness because at 7a.m. the next morning the my midwife said it was time to start pushing. I was excited and had no idea what I was about to experience. I will spare you the details but the next 3 hours and 9 minutes was the craziest thing I have ever done. And just like that a baby girl came outta my you know what and she was perfect! Todd was the best birth coach EVER and I would not have been able to do any of it without him there helping me through my ups and downs.

39 weeks and still baking

I sure am glad that I was able to have a nice cool summer for the most part during this pregnancy. The past two weeks have been almost unbearable as the temperature and humidity have been working together to make me as miserable as possible lately. Thankfully the soon to be gramma and awesom-pa have a lovely pool that I can go jump in any time I want.

We are eagerly awaiting for this little nugget to show her self. I am trying to stay close to home as my mom recently revealed that both my brother and I came in to the world pretty quickly and really without much warning. Our hospital bag is packed and the car seat is about ready to get buckled in to my back seat.

I probably could use more time to clean the house and really get the house ready but at this point all I want to do is lay down and watch lame internet shows. I do have a lot of work to do with her quilt but at least I finally have all the pieces, they just need to be all stitched together. I am excited to share photos but for now I will just have to tell you it will be all vintage floral fabrics in strips down the front, some lovely 100% cotton batting, and a repurposed white sheet for the back. If I get really cutesy with this project I may even do some ribbon embroidery on the white side so it can have a decorative look too.

38 weeks and counting...

So here we are at 38 weeks. Miss Luna could come at any time and we are just barely ready for her. Bags are packed, we have to get her car seat in the car, I finally finished her crib sheet, still working on her blanket, still not on maternity leave, but all in all her daddy and I are very excited to meet this little one. Below is some artwork our friend Ilan made to congratulate us on our new addition, a large version is hanging over her crib. We love handmade gifts and look forward to buying and making her lots of handmade goodies during her lifetime.

I had such a good time at my baby shower, so many friends and family came to celebrate with me. We had the best organic foods thanks to Dan the Man who along with Tessa prepared almost all of it. There were some yummy cookies made by Danielle. Not to mention all the planning Danielle and Tessa did while 500 miles apart! You two are the bomb! I couldn't have planned anything better myself. And another huge thanks to my aunt and uncle who hosted the entire event at there house, it was such a beautiful day to be outside! All the cute little gifts are going to come in handy when Elliott arrives, I can't wait to see her all dressed up in her little outfits and see her play with her new little toys. I will share some of my most favorite gifts in a future post. xoxo

Things are finally coming together; we put the huge pile of stuff that had taken over the sewing room and turned it all into a little nursery in the corner of our room. During the baby shower Todd put the crib together and hung all the photos and the little bird mobile. Then we picked up the cutest dresser on earth and all her clothes have a home now. All I have to do is finish the sheets and the quilt and she will be all set!

I have more totes to post for my shoppe but here's a little preview to hold you over until I get them all photographed. For these three totes, I used reclaimed and vintage fabrics. The two leafy looking ones are some beautiful cotton prints, one even seems to be hand stamped. These prints are from Finland and I got them at a garage sale along with a whole bunch more of these unusual Marimekko pieces, all from the early 90s. I can't wait to make more from this special find! I hope you enjoy these simple summer totes, more to come!

Just wanted to share these cute little totes that I will be posting in my shoppe in a few days... just waiting for some good light and my new labels! I am starting to get back into the swing of things here in my little sewing room. I got two gift stacks of fabric from Todd and my Aunt Susan this past week which means I better get busy and start making stuff. I think I finally settled on the fabric for Elliott's bedding so I will be starting that project soon too! I may also venture out and try making a funky little ragdoll for her too! xo

I found these really pretty cloth napkins and since I have about a million I already use in the kitchen (I haven't bought paper towels or napkins in 8 years thank you very much) I decided to use these to make a little dress for little Luna. Here's what the fabric looks like but I will get a nice shot of the finished dress when I am all done. I might also have one for sale in my shop soon!

I found a super easy tutorial on how to make fitted sheets for a crib so now all I have to do is decide which of my vintage fabrics to use. I will probably make several since they are so easy and because I know I will definitely use them. I will be sure to share the results when I finish.

I have been slowly cutting out these little felt bird shapes for a mobile I am making for Elliott. I am using a vine from a past year's hops harvest that Todd had wound all up into a wreath, I think it will add to the nature theme I am going with. I am not sure what exactly it will look like in the end but I think it will be bright and cheery and it will hang somewhere over her crib. I have about 3 months to get everything ready for her little space but I keep adding more handmade decor to my list so I am hoping to actually get it all done in time.

I am soooooo behind it is not even funny. I have tons of new bags and other items that need to be photographed and posted at my shop. I haven't been posting as much as I'd like to be mainly because we don't have the internet at home anymore. sad face. I do have some exciting news however... we are having a baby!!!

I am also supposed to be getting ready for the South Park Walkabout where I will be selling my goodies at South Bark Dog Wash on March 27th. I have yet to come up with a pet related item but I have made cat toys in the past for friends so I think I might go in that direction. Anywho that's a little tidbit of what's going on, hope to see you at the Walkabout!

I sold a ton of bags just before xmas and now I have the joy of restocking my shoppe. My sewing room is even worse than it was before the holidays. There is literally fabric spilling out of every container. Oh and pillows that I was supposed to finish way back sometime. I am stoked to get some new materials to work with and new items posted on etsy. In 2010 I will be making pillows, hankies, and grocery totes so look out for all these new items! I am hoping to get a messenger type bag and some bike accessories in there too but they are still in the planning stages. I will be at the South Park Walkabout in a few months and my bags will be available to purchase, more details to come but I know for sure that I will be at South Bark Dog Wash. I just posted new photos of my bags. I am always experimenting with light and I think I found the perfect spot in the house for taking my photos. Natural light pours in my south facing bedroom window all day long. This allows for the most perfect bright photos. Good thing Todd has taught me so much about photography or I wouldn't know what I was doing. Just in time for the holidays and in an effort to make room for new stock, all my bags at the shop have been discounted up to 30% through the new year (1/1/10), enjoy!

Although I have become fairly comfortable behind the camera, I am still thinking that my photos are missing something so now I am looking for a model. If you or anyone you know is comfortable in front of the camera and is willing to trade a days worth of modeling for a bag of their choice and lunch or dinner let me know. We will most likely take photos here at my house and the park across the street. I am hoping this will give potential customers a better idea of proportions rather than just having the measurements listed.

okay so i think i remember how to work my sewing machine and what a perfect time because of those holidays coming up. there is no better way to show someone you love them than by making something yourself. i am going to try making some new items this year and also i will use some new materials. i still have a lot of work to do on my sewing room which looks like a tornado that blasted through a thrift store. i have never seen suck wreckage. literally floor to ceiling in fabric... i do not ever need to buy fabric again ever! my moving and unpacking frenzy has allowed me to uncover some gems in the old fabric vault. p.s. today i am posting six new bags to my etsy store...enjoy!

Work was so crazy this week and on top of that I had lots of personal things to get done so I could not focus on anything at all. I thought for a second that my brain my explode. Luckily this crazy week ended with me getting my purse stolen right out of my car. I guess I forgot I am not in Arcata anymore and people in San Diego are jerks. I didn't even cry because I had to keep it together long enough to do a mental inventory of what might have been inside my purse. Turns out lots of important wedding things were in that little bag.

Sorry I have been absent from the blog and my shop but I am oh so busy with the wedding planning! For a low key couple we sure are doing it up for this big event. Hopefully after the big day, and after finding a place to live I will be back in action sewing up a storm and just in time for the upcoming holiday madness.

New this Fall will be some awesome grocery totes made from upcycling discarded coffee sacks. We have some friends here in San Diego who are coffee roasters and are kind enough to let me have these huge sacks. I will be pulling them apart and reconstructing them into uber handy, simple, lightweight totes for all your grocery needs. I am pretty sure you know someone who still is using plastic or paper bags... let them know how uncool that is and tell them about reusable bags!

... hello San Diego! So as you may or may not know, Todd and I are moving down south for awhile and as of August 11 we will not have internet access at our house. What are we going to do with all our new found free time!?! We will have our hands full cleaning, packing, gather plants from all over the yard, downsizing, more cleaning and then more packing and probably a little repacking and even more cleaning. We had to come to the realization that we will need a moving van so we can get all our toys down there too. Should be loads of fun...? Well, I may be able to get another post in before I go but if you don't see me hanging around the world wide web then at least now you know why.

Snip+Stitch was absolutely wonderful! Laura and Mitzi, a.k.a. the Crafty Mavericks, did an amazing job putting this together and making all the vendors feel loved! Here some pictures of my booth. I wish I would have been able to get pictures with other vendors but I was busy selling and before knew it the day was over!

Early morning and my space is looking good. It was Todd's clever idea to put my cute blue chair in the corner.
The tiny gift bags were definitely a favorite. I forgot my wine bottle for the gift bag display, this may be why I didn't sale even one!
My make up wraps were super popular, I only had one left at the end of the day! I gave away teensy tiny bags with my business card in them, people loved it!
I hung everything from wooden clothespins and I think it made a nice display especially for my totes which are a bit more slouchy.
I should have made twice as many purses... they were a hit! A couple times people had come back to buy one in particular and it had already been sold!

Overall this was an great experience and I would love to be invited to do it again and again... I would even make the trip from San Diego so I could be apart of it all over again.

Just for fun I will have my stash of vintage fabrics at the craft fair for my lovely customers to create a custom order design of their own. So I totally messed this bag up in a good way... My bobbin was loose and I didn't realize it until it was too late and I was finishing the top hem and the inside stitching looks crazy and not at all something I would sell. This one of kind gem turned out to be even more spectacular then I imagined however so I am keeping it for myself. Normally when I fudge something up I give it to a friend or sell it at a consignment store for like $5 but this purse is too good to pass up. I love it! You can't really tell in the picture but the fabric is super shiny and has a gorgeous floral design. I was doing some "market research" (that little drawing a week or so ago) and discovered that most people like my purse style the most so you will definitely be seeing more bags just like this one made from my rare fabric finds.

Hello friends!

Many things are going on here with danikai and I want to share with all of you lovely people out there who have inspired me to continue sewing and sewing and sewing :)

First of all I am slowly but surely moving danikai over to danikai.etsy.com. Bookmark this page and share it with your friends! It will just make things SO much easier. No more confusion about the whole oceangrrl thing. Don't fret... oceangrrl has plans of her own and she will do amazing things too! For now I am posting one item per day until all of my bags have made the move. I am hoping this will allow for some good exposure over a longer period of time rather than changing the site in one day.

The next big news is that danikai will be available in Mog&Rue around mid July. This is a little shop in Encinitas California and I will have some one of a kind purses there on consignment. I am SO excited about this and want to send a BIG THANK YOU to Kristen, Mog&Rue's new owner.

And as if July couldn't get any better... I will be at the Snip+Stitch Craft Extravaganza July 26th on the Plaza in Arcata! OMG you know you want to be there too! The Ian Fays and The Monster Women will be there to provide you with entertainment along with some amazing shops selling our handmade goodness.

I have been wanting to add a photo to the top of the blog and I finally have one I feel represents what is going on here at My Little Brown House. Do you like it? Bags, cameras, journals, get it?!?

I was able to sneak away to the beach with Hops and Todd early this morning, it was gorgeous out there.

I re-shot a bunch of bags today because the sun came out and I had to take advantage of the wonderful natural light pouring in through my windows. Make sure you peek at my shop for the new pics... I think they are really great. I added a couple new bags, more wine gift bags! I have been giving these away left and right because I love them so much! I drop a homebrew in there and BAM! After about 30 failed attempts at a small clutch with a zipper I finally figured it out! The zipper is probably my biggest obstacle when I am making a new design and all I needed to do was take the time to make it work.

I had to become the zipper.

I made two today and you can find them at my shoppe. I used a sample of some really great home decor fabric. I will be making some more for sure. Let me know what you think.

Life on the farm can be tough but we enjoy it very much.

I made ten new bags this weekend!!! I put to use some interior design fabric samples I got from a family friend who passed them on to me. These bags turned out super cute and I will hopefully be able to share them with you in the next couple of days after a little photo session. I have been away from the creative corner of my house for too long! Who knew planning a wedding could take this much of a toll on me? dress, food, photographer, music, decor, invites, guests, favors, hair, shoes, tuxes, flowers, cakes...

...that list seems small in comparison to all the other stuff going on right now! I am also supposed to be blogging for my dad's company and planning a big move to San Diego and saving money and looking for a job and finding a place to live! (Breath Michelle, it will all be okay)

My goal is to get back on track with my bags this next weekend. I think this will let some creative juices flow and I will be able to clear my mind and start fresh again with the wedding. At least that's what I'm hoping.

Congrats to my sister who is days away from her first piece of real estate!!! WOO WOO!! I am so proud and a teensy bit jealous ;)

Has anyone else noticed all the gorgeous spring flowers blooming all around??? The sun has been shining and it is making me oh so excited for summer!

All tote bags and grocery totes are HALF OFF through Earth Day and beyond! I will be outta town so any orders purchased between April 19th and April 27th will be shipped as soon as I get back. If you mention my blog in the message to seller I will also send you a t-shirt bag. It's a bag made from a shirt! I need to make some room for fresh spring items; out with the old, in with the new. Plus, I know there are people out there still who use those yucky plastic or paper bags, that's a big NO NO on the earth friendly scale. Vintage Cotton Fabrics

I go through piles of fabric at thrift stores in search of vintage cotton fabrics. They are the softest and most beautiful fabrics to me and I finally started to use them. Today I made the cutest a-line skirt just in time for Spring which is, unfortunately, not quite here yet. Why do I consider my shoppe eco-friendly?

Hello friends,

Since we are in the month of "Team Eco Etsy Free & Green March Madness" I thought I would use this post to inform you why I consider my products to be earth friendly.

~ At least 95% of my fabric comes from around town. I prefer to support local shops whenever I can which saves gas and I also get to chat with friendly faces instead of the cold computer.

~ All of my totes can be used when shopping instead of those nasty paper and plastic ones which would probably end up in the ocean. Use one every time you shop for increased amounts of awesomeness.

~ Most of my bags are made with vintage or upcycled fabrics. I like to use materials that need a new home or might otherwise be thrown into a yucky landfill.

~ A lot of my packaging materials are from shipments that come into work. Instead of recycling it all I use it again for my own shipping needs. REUSE!!!

Those are some of the reasons why I consider my bags to be green, thanks for reading :)

What's Next Danikai?

Hello friends,

Just wanted to update everyone on all the new things you will being seeing in my shoppe. During the month of March I will be participating in a EcoEtsy promotion. Details to come so check back to see what specials I will be offering all month long.

Also, I am getting the hang of zippers so I am looking forward to adding them to my purses! The zipper seems to really set the purse apart from my totes and I think it will be a much needed addition. I will still be doing magnetic closures for all of us who prefer that instead.

I have a couple prototypes for tiny drawstring bags which are perfect for organizing all the small stuff that is so easy to overlook. The tiny bags will be perfect for makeup, sunglasses, snacks, and will be made from light weight vintage fabrics.

Another style I am perfecting is the clutch. I am going to be working with heavier fabrics than I previously have used for this style which I am hoping will give it a nice structure in the palm of your hand. I am thinking I will alternate between zipper, magnetic buttons, and a small piece of velcro; this way you can chose whichever you like best. Since I have tons of zebra fabric scraps left over I will be making my first batch from that fabric. Lots of cute bright colors will line the interiors and I am so excited to get started!

Full of Ideas

Another weekend of sewing lies ahead and here is a

I have some plans for the near future to add zippers to purses and improve my clutch design. Also I will be creating a collection of three different bags all with the same essential structure but each having their own special element to make three separate styles. I am very excited to share more but it is all being stored in sketches and notes at this point. Stay tuned.

My bostonian friend, Rochelle, sent me some a-m-a-z-i-n-g books for my birthday. One is how to turn my craft into a legitimate business and is chock full of ideas and tips on how to get started. I have already finished and I am feeling the entrepreneurial spirit once again.
The second book she got me has me ampt to start printing my own designs on fabrics. The book has easy step by step processes on several printing methods that can be done easily on a tight budget. Look forward to that too!

I am asking all my customers to send me a pic of them with my bag (or bags as many have become quite the fans, thanks!) so I can post them. In return I will be sending a nifty surprise gift. Yep, just for sending me a picture to my email ocean.grrl18@gmail.com

Another Year

Are you ready for even more new bags? Well, they are on their way!

I have been trying to stay on top of the sewing pile (new years resolution # 271) and have been doing fairly well considering all the other things that keep me preoccupied (todd, hops, museum, 30 rock, the interweb, oh ya and that whole wedding thing).

I have even finished projects that were lying around for six months or worse christmas presents that were never completed (sorry Danielle, #1 sister extraordanaire)! I am well stocked (labels, cards, fabric, needles, thread) so I should be getting lots of work done. I am excited and I think this next year will be better than the last which was great!

I bought some cards that will be sent with each danikai order (thanks tommymama.etsy.com ), just as a final touch for all my wonderful customers. Did you hear? Danikai just went INTERNATIONAL! I sold two bags to Japan and one to Canada. I really need to fine tune the int'l shipping however so it doesn't end up costing anyone an arm and a leg. Maybe you have some tips from your own experience....?

Overall it was an awesome weekend! I was pretty much on cloud nine because of Todd's little surprise (see previous blog). I could have cared less if I sold one thing. I sold a good amount though and I was able to buy a bunch of handmade goodies for gift giving. I met lots of really cool artists and saw some amazing work. I would definitely do this fair again but I would start the preparation process in the summer.

Todd got up when I told him snow was coming down and then made me coffee. I was running around getting all the loose ends together for the craft fair. He gave me a big hug and then BAM! I don't remember all the details except there was lots of joyful tears.

...that there were so many different types of sewing needles! This whole time I thought my sewing machine was giving me a hard time and all I had to do was buy a variety of needles for a variety of fabrics and projects. I was getting so frustrated and beginning to doubt my machine but turns out I just needed to make it happy. Now I am sewing with the pros!

You might have noticed my shop is on "vacation mode" that just means I will be back in action on December 15th. I am almost ready for this weekend and a bit nervous because I am not quite sure if I have enough bags. Wish me luck!

Craft Fair Booth

This is just a small sample of new bags I have that are not posted on my shop. I have lots of new totes and shopping bags that I think everyone will enjoy! If they don't sell at the fair they will be posted on the 15th for your viewing pleasure :)

Theresa and I staged our booth for the craft fair this past Saturday. I think it is going to be quite lovely. For those of you who won't be able to make it :( I will be sure to get some pictures. We were not sure what to do and then it just all came together thanks to a shiny piece of gold fabric, trust me it looks awesome! I am so excited to show off all my creations.

My shop will be closed (i.e. "on vacation" mode) 12/10-12/14 in preparation for the craft fair. I have lots of organizing and inspecting to do so I think this will make things easier for me. Things will be up and running soon after, don't fret!

Did everyone have a family fun filled turkey day?!?! Todd and I went to see Role Models it was hilarious well at least the first half was then it just got silly. I am so excited to see my family in a few short weeks at Christmas. Oh and my little brother is turning 21! What kind of shenanigans could we possibly get into....

Amp Cover for Todd

Um ya, I made Todd an amp cover for his vintage '65 Ampeg Jet and it is pretty awesome. The color in the photo came out bad unfortunately. Imagine Padres colors in the 80s: gold stitching on a nutmeg color canvas. I am hoping others may be interested although I don't need to add to my list of things to do.

I have a new banner at the top of my shop... any constructive criticisms? I am still playing with format and getting it from photoshop where it is crisp to the world wide web where is becomes blurry. Any useful tips on that are much appreciated.

All purchases now come with a little special something and it is all wrapped up using recycled packaging materials and fabric scraps. Not in a janky sort of way but in a way that will make you all warm and fuzzy inside.

Sew What

I have been going non-stop for the past few weeks... babysitting for five different families, work at the museum, and sewing. I can't believe I haven't got sick despite less sleep and poor eating habits.

With the craft fair quickly approaching, I am feeling the pressure and find myself dreading sitting down at my sewing machine. I try to avoid it by doing anything but sewing. This little game does not last very long seeing as there is not much to do when it rains for a week straight. I have about 20 finished bags I haven't posted on Etsy and even more cut out just waiting to be all stitched up. I am really focused on grocery/shopping totes.

In a perfect world all my bags will be sold so I can buy all the sweet items I have been collecting on my Etsy Favorites page! I have completely gone from finding things I want to get for others to selfishly looking for myself. I am sorry but I can't help it with all the cool handmade and vintage goodies.

As I mentioned it has been raining, a lot. It will pretty much rain until May with short bursts of sunshine and rainbows. On my way home the other day I saw a double rainbow over a pasture. I could see the whole thing! I pulled over to take a picture and my camera battery was dead, so sad. Here is a cheater picture I didn't take...

IPA Homebrew

Some of you know we homebrew. Todd is more the mastermind and I am more the one who helps out whenever four hands are needed. The goal is always an IPA which is a hoppier version of a pale ale. Not a beer for sissies thats for sure. Super bitter and, when well balanced, perfectly sweet. Tonight we tapped another attempt at an IPA. We have made a few before but we really super charged this one. At around 90 IBUs of perfection I am not complaining. If you're lucky this will be making a trip down to San Diego for sure! ...if it lasts that long ;)

New (to me) Fabric

I went down to San Diego to visit family a few weeks ago for my brother Andre's 25th birthday! It was so so so much fun. In 72 hours we packed in birthday celebration, fabric shopping, beer, hugs, etc. I wish I could do it every weekend. Actually every day would be better.

I also had time to rummage through my Aunt Susan's sewing room for fabric. This seemed overwhelming but I was up for the challenge! In three hours or so I managed to go through maybe a third of it and scored on some awesome fabric for my purses and bags. I have already made a few and posted them in my shop. I could only get half of it on the plane so I will definitely making another trip.

Using rare fabrics gives my bags a little extra something special. Now I am on the hunt for vintage fabric with funky mod prints and patterns. I have been experimenting with new designs and am open to suggestions.

I Finally Made A Shirt

This is my first real shirt. I am pretty stoked on how it turned out and it wasn't that hard at all. I pretty much just started cutting around a shirt I have that fits me well. The fabric is some sort of soft synthetic knit in a magenta color and I used my favorite fabric ever to add a little something extra. Now I have an excuse to go out, hint hint Todd ;) So I am getting ready for this craft fair. This means sleeping less and sewing more. I have never been so productive and experimental. Just today I made the tiniest little handbag just to practice some stitches and work out the kinks in a couple new techniques. So far so good! I am hoping to make some really nice totes and purses from this design.

Hmmmmm what else is going on with me...??? Oh ya last night and this morning there have been little earthquakes. Hops has not been too happy about this and seems concerned about the fact that we live on top of a pool. Not sure how it will hold up if a big earthquake was to occur. You are probably wondering, "Who is Hops?", well he is my border colllie. Just the other day the chickens got out and he helped herd them in the coop. All of his herding instincts just kicked in and from what I hear he did a good job. I am going to take him on a walk now.

Good news this week! That's twice in a row and I am on a roll...

Last night I just happened to design and print business cards. Mostly because I didn't feel like sewing and plus I guess it couldn't hurt right?!?

Well today at work I was notified that I got into the Arcata Holiday Craft Market. I was getting kinda anxious so I was very relieved to here that I got a booth. I will be super busy for the next two months sewing until I can't see straight.

Too many things going on in my brain

I have been sick with a pleasant little head cold we in the Northwest like to call "the crud". I pretty much feel like my head is full of air and mucus and a dash of tickle in the throat. I have seen the worst of it and am on the road to recovery.

Danikai labels are still not in my possession. As soon as they land in my mailbox I will be able to complete 17 bags (as of today). My sewing area has turned in to a disaster area...

I have been a sewing machine these passed few weeks and it is only getting worse, or should I say better? Anyways, I am really getting some good techniques down and streamlining my production time. I made these little tote bags for Todd's band, all hand embroidered designs he picked out...

I am in the process of obtaining a seller's permit so that I can buy and sell wholesale. This is apparently just something you do when you have a product to sell which I do, in case you didn't know.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I told you about our hops plant? Well, so far we have a pound and a half!!! That is just one plant we have probably 6 more that we can put in the ground next year. If only we had our own land to grow commercially.
